**Let's be Creature Creators!**

This craft is fun to make and fun to play with when it's done!

Funny Bugs/ Aliens

Materials Needed:

small terra cotta pot w/
a hole in the bottom

1 pipe cleaner (any color)

paint

paintbrush

glue

2 small wooden balls
(or small pom-poms would work,
but we used wooden balls)

optional materials:

2 googly eyes - you could
just paint the eyes on

a nose- we used a wooden letter
"O" but you could paint it on, or
use a pom pom or another
wooden ball...or whatever you
can think of! ;o)

a mouth- we used yarn, but you
could paint it on, or again, use
whatever you can think of :o)

Instructions for our funny creature

1. paint your terra cotta pot however you'd like to and let dry

2. paint your wooden balls (or whatever you chose for eyes) whatever color
you'd like and let dry

3. When dry, glue your wooden balls together

4. If you are using googly eyes, glue them on the wooden balls
and let dry

5. Get your pipe cleaner and tie a knot in the center

6. Insert the two ends into the hole in the pot from the bottom and pull until the
knot stops it from coming out any further

7. tie another knot in the pie cleaners, on the outside, very close to the hole
(this is so the antenna won't slide out from either side of the hole)

(a safety note- bend the sharp ends of the pipe cleaners down, so no one gets
poked with them)

8. When eyes are dry, glue them to the bottom of the pot, right in front of the
pipe cleaner antenna, and let dry

9. If you are adding a nose, go ahead and glue that on

10. If you are adding a mouth, go ahead and glue that on as well, and let dry

11. Have fun playing with your funny creature!

**Sock Puppets**

Good ole' sock puppets
This craft is fun to make, stimulates imaginations, and it's full of fun!

Sock Puppets

Materials Needed:

an old sock(preferably
not *too* old ;o) )

hot glue
(for parents only!)

scisssors (if you're
using felt or scrap fabric)

any craft materials that can
serve as facial features, and
be glued onto a sock!
examples:
scrap fabric, googly eyes,
buttons, felt, yarn
for hair/beard,
or you can just draw
the face on with markers.

Instructions for our sock puppets

1. Flatten your sock out and figure out where
you want to glue or draw everything.

2. Cut out your puppets ears, mouth, bowties, scarfs,
or whatever you want to make.

3. An adult should handle this step, which is hot glueing
all of the parts on.(tip- slide a big metal spoon into the sock
while hot glueing the pieces on, so you don't glue the front to the back,
and you don't have to use your hand!)

4. Let cool and put on a puppet show!
